Bay of Islands

In January Dani and I did a 4 day trip to the Bay of Islands and stayed in a  beach town called Paihai.  About a 3 hour drive north from Auckland.  We stayed the Top 10 campground in a small cabin.

A new friend from America

The camp had a heated pool

Kayak rentals

The little town was nice with some good restaurants.

The best Calzone I have had since Pizza Village

The area is famous for its sword fishing

We spent a few hours a few hours at the Parrot Place which was a lot of fun

We went to see the Rainbow Falls in KeriKeri

Played miniature golf Dani's first time

We visited the Waitangi Treaty Grounds where in 1840 the Europeans and Maori signed the treaty to share New Zealand.

"The purpose of the Treaty was to enable the British settlers and the Māori people to live together in New Zealand under a common set of laws or agreements. The Treaty aimed to protect the rights of Māori to keep their land, forests, fisheries and treasures while handing over sovereignty to the English"
