Over Christmas to New Years we went to Wahai Beach which is in the Bay of Plenty region on the east coast of New Zealand two hours south of Auckland. Beautiful beach with big surf waves and the sun was very strong.
We stayed in a top 10 campground in a room with 8 bunk beds in a normal
year used by backpackers. Not fancy but was ok.
The campground had a little sand castle building contest and Dani and her
friend competed.
There was an adults competition with three prizes and as there were only
two entrants I quickly joined the contest and got the prize for most
creative which was a bottle of wine
The big winner of the contest
Big surf waves. Dani took a big hot the first day and I thought
would be it. The second day she learned to dive under the waves and
was enjoying the surf.
Grace mostly relaxed in the shade
We went to my old manager Cindy's new house for dinner which was just a
few miles down the beach.
It is really beautiful. Her husband is a builder and the hosue was
written up in a NZ homes magazine
Dani made a really good friend at the beach Mai. They had a great
time and Mai slept at our place twice and Dani slept there once.
Water slide at another campground in the town
