Goat Island Marine Reserve Camping

We went up to Goat Island Marine Reserve which is about 50 miles north of Auckland.  We stayed in a cabin for two nights and then tent for two nights.

Dani and I came back on our own after Christmas and stayed in a tent.

Our friends stayed in one of these old Caravans.  We had originally planned to stay in own as well but changed to a cabin after getting a look

The campground was basic but beautiful nature and view down to the marine reserve

Dani met a lot of friends and had fun playing all day

A friend she met who's name was Daniella also nick name Dani and from Mexico.  Her Dad just finished his Masters degree at U of Auckland

Healthy lunch!

Tractor Ride

The camp made a bonfire each night which was fun

A lot of kids very international mix

Playing a bocce type game

Slip and Slide.  The weather is not too hot perhaps in the mid to high 70's but the sun is very strong.

At the marine reserve.  I spent over and hour in the water and saw lots of fish and a sting ray

We drove to another nearby beach with big surf and tidal pools which were good for the kids

The University of Auckland has a marine research center and visitor center that we spent some time visiting
