A few months ago we took an overnight cruise along the Mekong River. It was the typical cruise that many tourists do when visiting Vietnam. It was not cheap but actually was a very nice short get away.
We took a three hour bus ride to a city at the start of the Mekong called Can Tho. The boat left Can Tho at mid day. We spent the day cruising down the river, ate our meals on the boat, slept in a nice cabin and returned the next day.
The Cabin.
The Can Tho bridge in the back ground. Built a few years ago and cut down the drive from Saigon to Can Tho from five hours to three hours.
The boat had 16 cabins but we were on the boat with only four other couples. This couple were from Switzerland and lived in California.
During the day we took a walk into one of the villages where we saw some local crafts people making floor rugs.
We needed to wear life vests for the small boat that took us to the shore. A little over sized for grace
